Description
Held on January, 2024, under the European Horizon Europe BioDT project, this webinar examined the integration of digital twins in biodiversity and agriculture, focusing on crop wild relatives (CWR). The session demonstrated how MoDGP (Modelling the Distribution of Germplasms of Interest) works in tandem with the established FIGS (Focused Identification of Germplasm Strategy) framework. Furthermore, it highlighted the role of digital twinning in revolutionizing model-based identification and utilization of genetic resources. By enabling automated data integration, real-time model updates, streamlined uncertainty analysis, and targeted trait alerts, this innovative methodology offers significant value to plant breeders, conservationists, and policymakers.
Learning Objectives
After finishing this webinar, you will be able to:
- Apply Digital Twin concepts to simulate, monitor, and analyze biodiversity dynamics;
- Evaluate the ecological and agricultural significance of Crop Wild Relatives (CWR) in building crop resilience;
- Utilize the MoDGP tool for effective data modeling and optimization;
- Implement the Focused Identification of Germplasm Seeds (FIGS) strategy alongside advanced machine learning models;
- Integrate multi-omics and environmental datasets to extract actionable insights for conservation and agriculture.
Target Audience
The resource is primarily aimed at plant breeders, researchers and scientific research groups, developers and data modelers, conservationists, and policymakers.
